Enjoy discovering the Rokugo area on foot!

This is a town famous for its water that has been selected as one of the 100 Best Waters of Japan by the Ministry of the Environment. Especially in the Rokugo area, there are the Rokugo Yusuigun natural springs, many temples to visit, old-fashioned sweets stores and stylish cafes, for visitors to enjoy exploring.

Another sight to see in the early summer is an original variety of white lavender (Misato Sekka) grown in Misato Town.

On your travels you can also enjoy local gourmet treats such as the famous Niteko soda, made from natural spring water, and the local cuisine "Misato Tanuchu".

Rokugo Springs

You can find beautiful springs here and there.

There are many springs everywhere in the area of Rokugo, such as "Odadokoro Shimizu", "Hatachiya Shimizu" and "Homon Shimizu".Take a break at "Shimizu no Yakata" during your tour of the Yusuigun springs.

Visitors can try coffee or green tea made with spring water (350 yen with a sweet).

Misato Lavender Garden

Don't miss Misato town's original lavender!

This is one of the popular tourist spots in Misato to visit in the summer. Every summer usually between the middle of June and late July twenty thousand lavender plants are in flower over an area two hectares in size.

The special Misato-cho original white flowering lavender called 'Misato Sekka' is not to be missed. During the season visitors can also pick lavender (300 yen).

Over 400 red pine and cedar trees have been planted here making this area a well-loved esplanade for the locals.

Niteko Meisui-an

Try the cool nagashi soumen!

This is a famous shop where visitors can taste a recommended dish of summer— nagashi soumen.

After sitting at a table that encircles a round tank, soumen noodles flow out from a spout.

Soumen noodles eaten with lots of condiments are refreshing and perfect in the hot summer months.

Yuko-chan

We recommend a gelato as a treat after sweaty cycling.

Local vegetables and pickles are packaged for sale and the area is good resting spot for cyclists. The gelato is fantastic, too!
